Tried an unusual crop on this image - and added plenty of grain - I liked the effect. Be interesting to find out if the crop works for you all?

In keeping with the macro scenes of the past few days... Really liked the contrast between the texture of the wall and the blurs produced by the extremely shallow depth of field (DOF). Also, tha flash fall-off produced a lovely white to black gradient - this really has the feel of another studio photography to it...well, to me anyway! * no mantises were harmed during the creation of this photograph *

Saw him sitting on the side of our microwave last night...used the (by now) infamous Canon 60mm macro with a 430EX flash bounced off a shelf above the microwave... Even at F/8 the DOF wasn't much to speak of - but did highlight his almost 'retro-punk' hairstyle... Found I'm quite enjoying the clinical feel of macros on a white background - almost a classical high-key studio approach but on a MUCH smaller scale, with less lights, and less patient models.

Ain't love grand? For me the composition, strange as it is, really works on this shot. Slight hotspot on Max's head could probably be removed...but it does emphasise the baldness! (sorry max!)

While this won't be to everyone's taste... to me it really conveys the feeling of a squat structure brooding on the horizon, poisoning everything around it...almost as if the power station has created the dirty looking clouds. Taken during the middle of a rainstorm, the clouds were pretty forboding anyway, but I really like the way the HDR range has brought out the textures in them. I'd love to have seen a little more of the steam pouring out the main towers - it seems to join the clouds as it is...but I really like the balance in this image.

It's really quite simple... If you want a lifelike image of a fly swooping in on something - you need to employ a trained spider to pose the fly just right... :c) Sometimes you get lucky....
